An invitation to meditate

OUR CHAIRMAN - SHANKER MADAN

Shanker Madan is steeped in the tradition of Yoga in all its major pathways. He has been an influential contributor to the Ashram for more than four decades. He presents on Vedanta and Advaita Vedanta and participates in our Jnana Yoga group each week, as well as chairing our board.

An invitation to meditate, from Shanker ...

Every morning the residents of the Sivananda Ashram in Western Australia gather together in the Satsang room for meditation at 6.30am. Please join them in your own home and meditate.

Read a page or two from a spiritual text of your choosing, then sit for meditation from 6.45am for 30 to 45 minutes. We can thus become a worldwide link meditating on the Self. This will surely purify our own hearts and purify the environment we live in, which has become fearful and vitiated in recent months due to coronavirus.

The Song of God Chapter VI - 20,21 : Swami Venkatesananda's Commentary

"Delight experienced in meditation, without any external prop, gives lie to the old notion that happiness is outside. Independent happiness is the most intense, and it is unshakeable because it is self-dependent.

So long as our peace or happiness depends upon external agencies, we cannot be happy."

“One who knows, that he himself is the source of satisfaction, remains firmly rooted in the fountain source of satisfaction, satisfaction in the Self (Atma).”
